Blinded by the Elbow

Hubby was mentoring a kid on Saturday and they were playing sports, as usual. For some reason, the boy tackled him during a game of baseball and Hubby caught an elbow to the eye. Somehow, the elbow to the eye caused two cuts on the lower portion of his eyeball and he was temporarily blinded for a night.

Talk about scary. Of course, I'd stand by him no matter what happened but a million thoughts raced through my mind. What if the blindness is permanent? Will he be mad at himself or mad about the things he'll miss out on seeing? Thankfully by the next afternoon he was able to see though his eye is still swollen and the cuts are still there. But tell me this...

Why are men SO stubborn about going to the doctor? Sight is not something to mess around with. He told me if the pain got to be too much or if his sight didn't return, he'd go. I kept asking him (about every 10-15 minutes while he was awake) if he was alright and he assured me that he was. I hear him talking to his boss on the phone, though, and he tells him that on Saturday night the pain was nearly unbearable. Why not admit that to your wife so she can take you to the doctor? Ugh. Ugh, ugh, ugh.

Anyway, I'm very thankful my hubby seems ok though he says it still feels "gritty." I'll attempt to get him to the doctor today, too, though I probably already know what he's gonna say.

My dad tripped over some netting on his shrimp boat. By the time he went to the doctor his arm that had been fractured was 75% healed!

I hope his eye heals up! That IS scary...I don't know why men do that but I've tried to get Jeff to go to the doctors for something that isn't anything to mess with and he won't budge...its easier to get them to ask for directions lol

ahem...

well, i say something so important as sight definitely requires immediate attention. As said, some things are not to be fooled with...

Insofar as all the other 'minor' BS that befalleth our half of the species...

Minor.

PROUD to be one of the two in the street...
